Onboarding of New Personnel to the Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA)

As part of its commitment to strengthening internal governance, inclusivity, and transformational leadership, the Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA) has welcomed a new cohort of personnel engaged and seconded by its member organizations into key coalition structures.
To support this transition and ensure seamless integration, an onboarding session was held on Friday, April 25, 2025. The session aimed to familiarize new team members with NLCA’s evolving governance model, operational framework, and shared vision for localization and community-centered development.
Personnel have been deployed across three critical arms of the coalition:
Steering Committee (SC)
The Secretariat (TS)
Technical Team (TT)
This onboarding included both newly engaged professionals and seconded staff from member organizations, ensuring that the coalition continues to benefit from diverse expertise, institutional support, and shared leadership.
This strategic investment in personnel development is expected to:
Enhance the service delivery capacity of the NLCA
Strengthen donor engagement and reporting systems
Improve the coalition’s ability to attract and manage increased funding for community-level impact
Through collaborative leadership and continuous capacity building, the NLCA remains focused on advancing localization, accountability, and sustainability in all its operations.
Strategic Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Workshop of the Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA)

The Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA) convened a three-day Strategic Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Workshop at Vortex Hotel, Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State. The workshop was facilitated by Promoting Local Response Capacity and Partnership (PLRCAP).
The objective of the workshop was to support the NLCA in finalizing its Strategic Plan, conducting a comprehensive Risk Assessment, and developing a robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework. These efforts are aimed at strengthening the coalition’s internal systems and improving its overall effectiveness and accountability.
The workshop brought together representatives from all nine member organizations of the NLCA, fostering collaboration and shared ownership of the coalition’s long-term vision and strategic direction.
This initiative is supported by The Share Trust and Warande Advisory, as part of ongoing efforts to build a sustainable coalition model for localization, promoting the shift of power and resources to local actors who are best positioned to drive impactful change within their communities.
The workshop stands as a significant milestone in NLCA’s commitment to advancing locally led solutions and fostering a more responsive and resilient coalition.
Joint Action Plan II (JAPII) Design Workshop of the Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA)

The Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA) held a four-day Joint Action Plan II (JAPII) Design Workshop at Vortex Hotel, Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State. The workshop brought together NLCA member organizations and selected community stakeholders from Gombi, Hong, Michika, and Mubi LGAs of Adamawa State.
The JAPII design workshop served as a platform for co-creation and participatory planning, enabling affected populations to work alongside coalition members to identify and prioritize the most pressing challenges in their communities. Together, they co-designed actionable solutions aimed at improving the wellbeing and resilience of vulnerable groups across the target LGAs.
This inclusive and collaborative process underscores NLCA’s commitment to localization and community-led development, where decisions and resources are directed by and for the people most affected.
The success of this workshop was made possible through the continued support of The Share Trust and Warande Advisory, whose guidance and partnership are instrumental in advancing NLCA’s mission to ensure that power truly shifts to local actors and affected populations.

The Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA) recently concluded a two-day Reflect and Learn Workshop and Governance Meeting, bringing together member organizations, key government stakeholders, and partners to evaluate the implementation of the Second Joint Action Plan (JAPII).
The workshop was held in collaboration with Warande Advisory, NLCA’s localization partner based in Nairobi, Kenya, and The Share Trust, co-creators of the NLCA based in the United States of America. The sessions were designed to facilitate critical reflection on the JAPII process, share lessons learned, and identify opportunities for improved community-centered programming.
Participants included representatives from the Adamawa State Government, notably the:
Ministry of Environment
Ministry of Health
Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (RRR)
These stakeholders, along with civil society actors and NLCA members, made valuable contributions that will strengthen the quality, reach, and effectiveness of future interventions.

As NLCA moves toward the co-creation of the Third Joint Action Plan (JAPIII), the focus remains on deepening localization and ensuring that future actions are more inclusive, community-driven, and transformational.
Together, the coalition is working to build stronger systems for sustainable development and resilient communities across Nigeria.
Capacity Building Workshop on Decision Mapping Tool (DMAT) and Power Awareness Tool

The Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA) recently held a capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening coalition members’ skills in informed decision-making and organizational analysis. The session was facilitated by NLCA’s key technical partners—The Share Trust and Warande Advisory.
The focus of the training was on two vital tools:
The Decision Mapping Tool (DMAT), which supports clarity, transparency, and efficiency in internal decision-making processes.
The Power Awareness Tool, which helps organizations assess and navigate power dynamics to enhance collaboration and equity in joint programming.
The workshop brought together representatives from member organizations across the coalition. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, practical exercises, and peer-to-peer learning, all designed to build shared understanding and foster collective ownership of NLCA’s localization vision.
This capacity-building initiative underscores the Coalition’s ongoing commitment to strengthening internal systems, promoting evidence-based decisions, and building resilience within local organizations to drive sustainable, community-led change.
As the NLCA continues to grow, tools like DMAT and the Power Awareness Tool will remain central to advancing its mission of localized, inclusive, and impactful development.
